Introducing the Elite series 400 amp alternator, equipped with a compact 1.75-inch diameter alternator pulley that demands a slightly shorter drive belt for optimal tension. While not recommended for sustained use above 5,000 RPM engine speed, this alternator offers impressive amperage output and durability at an affordable price. Utilizing 6-phase technology, massive twin rectifier assemblies, and 12 large diodes, these alternators are built for daily use, producing over 200 amps at engine idle RPM and exceeding 400 amps at cruising speeds (HOT RATED). Like many high-output alternators, this unit features a smaller diameter pulley, requiring a 1/2 inch to one-inch shorter than stock length belt for proper tension in most applications. Note that an additional rectangle-to-oval adapter harness may be necessary for vehicles originally equipped with the CS144 Heavy-duty charging option from the factory (though uncommon). For trucks with the more common oval-shaped 4-pin plug, this unit is a direct plug-in.
